Information for Selected Participants

This page includes information for those who have applied and have received an email from BOOST that they have been selected to participate in the program.   

Look for an email titled “Welcome to BOOST.” Please complete the online Enrollment Form linked in that email to secure your place in the program. The sooner you complete this enrollment form, the sooner you will receive the debit card with the first $1,000 payment. 

As a BOOST participant in the treatment group, you will receive $1,000 each month for one full year, for a total of $12,000 over that year.

These $1,000 monthly payments are unrestricted. They can be used for any purposes. 

Depending on when you complete the Enrollment Form, you may receive the first payment in November or December 2024. 

The monthly payments will continue for 12 months, even if your enrollment changes, such as if you graduate or transfer from LACCD colleges.

BOOST payments may impact eligibility for other programs and benefits. 

Debit Card Info

Payments will be issued via debit cards. Debit cards will be sent to you and managed by our debit card partner, MoCaFi.  

Your debit card will be mailed to you about 2-3 weeks after you complete the enrollment form. We will let you know, via email, when your specific debit card is expected to arrive. 

Debit Card Activation 

Once received, you will need to activate the card per the instructions included. Please refer to the customer service information included with the card if you have any questions about activation or the information provided.  

Separately, you will also receive information about the terms and conditions of the card. For example, this will let you know which banks and ATMs you may use to access the funds.  

Payment Schedule 

Payments will be issued via the debit cards. New fund will be loaded onto the cards each month. 

Expected monthly payment dates:   

• November 25, 2024 or when you receive and activate the card.  
• December 20, 2024. 
• January 2025 – October 2025: Payments expected to be issued on the 15th of every month. 

The monthly payment amount is $1,000.  

The funds do not expire and can roll-over from month to month.   

The monthly payments will continue for 12 months, even if your enrollment changes, such as if you graduate or transfer from LACCD colleges.

As part of the program, you'll also participate in an evaluation with our partners at the Center for Guaranteed Income Research at the University of Pennsylvania. This will include online surveys over the next 18 months. Some participants may also be invited to participate in additional interviews.
