Eligibility Summary

Eligibility Requirements

As of the application period, students must meet all of the following requirements to be eligible to apply for BOOST: 

  • College: Your home campus is one of the following LACCD colleges: East LA College, LA Southwest College, LA City College, or LA Trade-Tech College 
  • Current Enrollment: You are enrolled in at least 6 units (half-time) in the current term at any LACCD college  
  • Progress to Date: You have completed/passed at least 12 units to date at any LACCD college 
  • Major:  You must have a declared academic plan or major that matches one of these eligible majors (Link)
  • Relevant Classes: You must be currently or recently enrolled in at least one class within that academic plan/major 
  • Career Interest: You must be interested in pursuing one or more of the following career fields: Health Sciences, Allied Health Care Services, Behavioral Health, Public or Community Health, or Health and Human Services
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Your completion date for the relevant certificate or degree must be no earlier than June 2025
  • Prior Degrees: You have not completed a prior Bachelor's Degree or Post-Graduate Degree (Master's, PhD, etc.)
  • Financial Need: You have a demonstrated financial need as determined by the following: In the last year, a lack of money has impacted your ability to afford the cost of college and/or living expenses (i.e. rent, food, transit, etc.) AND your annual household income at or below HUD's Low Income Level for LA County
  • Eligibility: You are a U.S. Citizen, eligible non-citizen, or exempt from paying nonresident tuition in California Per 68130.5, commonly known as AB 540
  • Other: You are not enrolled in Hire UP or any other guaranteed income programs

Elegibilidad 

Para ser elegible debe cumplir con todos los siguientes requisitos: 

  • 18 años o más al momento de completar la solicitud
  • Ser estudiante en uno de los siguientes colegios: East LA College, LA Southwest College, LA City College, or LA Trade-Tech
  • Matriculado en, al menos, 6 unidades (medio tiempo) en el período actual
  • Haber completado/aprobado al menos 12 unidades, hasta la fecha, en cualquier colegio del LACCD
  • Está persiguiendo un Certificado de Logro o un grado de Asociado relevante para una carrera en salud pública, comunitaria, clínica o conductual, según lo definido y determinado por lo siguiente:
    • Haber declarado un plan académico o una especialidad que coincida con una de las especialidades elegibles
    • Estar actualmente o haber estado recientemente matriculado en al menos una clase dentro de ese plan académico/especialidad
    • Estar interesado en seguir uno o más de los siguientes campos profesionales:
      • Health sciences
      • Allied health care services
      • Clinical health care services
      • Behavioral health 
      • Public or community health
      • Health and human services
  • La fecha de finalización de su certificado o título no debe ser anterior a Junio de 2025.
  • No ha completado un título de licenciatura o un título de posgrado (maestría, doctorado, etc.).
  • Tiene una necesidad financiera demostrada, según lo determinado por lo siguiente:
    • La falta de dinero ha afectado su capacidad para cubrir el costo de la universidad y/o los gastos de vida.
    • Su ingreso total del hogar no excede el nivel de ingresos muy bajos de HUD para el condado de Los Ángeles.
  • Es ciudadano de los Estados Unidos (EE. UU.), no ciudadano elegible, o exento de pagar matrícula de no residente en California según el 68130.5, comúnmente conocido como AB 540.
  • No está inscrito en Hire UP ni en ningún otro programa de ingresos garantizados.

Income Eligiblity Guidelines

To be eligible, total annual household income must be at or below HUD's Low Income Level for LA County:

  • 1 person in household - annual household income at or below $ 77,700 
  • 2 persons in household - annual household income at or below $ 88,800 
  • 3 persons in household - annual household income at or below $ 99,900 
  • 4 persons in household - annual household income at or below $ 110,950 
  • 5 persons in household - annual household income at or below $ 119,850 
  • 6 persons in household - annual household income at or below $ 128,750 
  • 7 persons in household - annual household income at or below $ 137,600 
  • 8 persons in household - annual household income at or below $ 146,500
